Throat Chakra

Updated: May 1

Is your Throat Chakra blocked?

The Vishuddha (Throat Chakra) is the first of the three spiritual chakras. Located at the center of the neck. It governs the anatomical regions of the thyroid, parathyroid, jaw, neck, mouth, tongue, and larynx.

When open and aligned in the fifth chakra you are able to speak, listen, and express yourself from a higher form of communication.

A blocked throat chakra can significantly impact your ability to communicate effectively for fear of ridicule and judgement. A throat chakra blockage can also manifest as the inability to express and realize your truth in the world.

If authentic expression is not something that comes easily, working on the lower chakras will help prepare you for this level of communication. For example, when you align the first and second chakras, it helps with overcoming fear. Opening the third chakra helps you to feel your personal power and have the confidence to express yourself. Knowing what’s in your heart comes when you align the fourth chakra. Then, when it comes to verbalizing your needs, desires, and opinions you’re better able to determine how to be truthful to yourself and others.

Imbalances of the throat chakra may also manifest in the physical body as in a sore throat, thyroid problems, neck and shoulder pain, issues with hearing and jaw pain.

How to heal your Throat Chakra:

- Set an intention like described above to connect with your Throat chakra.

- Use essential oils. Choose any of the essential oils or a blend of them. Add 5 drops of oil to a tsp of carrier oil like jojoba or almond oil. Put the oil mixture in your hands and rub them together. Deeply inhale the scent then place your hands over your Throat Chakra and allow the energy of the oils infuse your chakra OR rub the oil directly on your skin.

- Meditate with a crystal of your choice while holding it on your left hand.

- Chant: "HUM" for few minutes.

- Try Reiki and/or yoga.
